In 2006, a Federal jury convicted former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman on charges of bribery and sentenced him to seven years in prison. According to CBS News, “52 former state attorneys-general have asked Congress to investigate whether the prosecution of Siegelman was pursued not because of a crime but because of politics.”
Purportedly, the White House pressured 60 Minutes to not air the story. When it ranlast night, blogs report that, “during the 60 Minutes broadcast and ONLY during the Don Siegelman portion — the screen went black for Huntsville residents and Mobile residents.” There are less confirmed reports in other locations.
CBS in New York blames the blackout on technical difficulties, but I find it rather suspicious that such technical difficulties were that highly concentrated.
As far as my tastes are concerned, these “technical difficulties” are too reminiscent of Communist China’s blackout of CNN International’s Tiananmen Square coverage. I don’t know anything about Don Siegelman, but his arrest is far too reminiscent of an Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn novel.
I want to believe that censorship in the information age is impossible. Help me prove it. Watch the 60 Minutes segment, watch the reporter’s notebook, and share this story with your network.
It can’t take more than 20 minutes.

ALABAMA’S EXTREME LEFT GOP
“60 Minutes Done A Great Job”
The Bush’s elete group of corrupt GOP’ers are scared to death that Don Siegelman may be on the streets before the election. Slick Bob is so nervous that he is combing his hair and spraying his mouth and under arms every five minutes. He’s hoping that the next president will be John McCain a republican and that Riley will be asked to be McCain’s running mate.
However, if the next president is a Democrat he/she will probally appoint new U.S. Attorneys in Alabama. Riley along with most of the top GOP operatives could get Federal charges filed against them for taking millions of dollars from Michael Scanlon and Jack Abramoff. This money was used to defeat Siegelman’s lottery and to fund Riley’s two campaigns for governor.

Did you know that WHNT-TV19 was less than a year ago owned by The NEW YORK TIMES? The company that owns the station now bought it from the NYT’s. Do you not find it ironic that the NYT’s is doing a hit piece on a station it owned less than a year ago? Would they have done this piece on this station if it still owned it? I doubt it very seriously. Also did you know that the general manager of WHNT-TV19, Stan Pylant, is a registered Democrat and he became the station manager less than 3 months ago? These stories about a conspiracy are a bunch of none-sense. This is just another reason to waste tax payer dollars. Do we not have better things to spend our hard earned money on in this country?

If 52 former state attorneys-general say that a case is suspicious, I don’t think that it’s a waste of taxpayer money to investigate it further.
I don’t identify with the Republican party, but I am an economic conservative. It saddens me to see the party that most stands for my values fall under controversy, but I refuse to ease the pain by jumping to the conclusion that every station owner that is registered Democrat and every media outlet even loosely affiliated with the New York Times is an evil, untrustworthy organization.
The idea that 60 Minutes and numerous other media outlets would fabricate this story for political gains is, in my mind, a more ridiculous conspiracy theory than this man’s political opponents arresting him under false charges.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding your point?
