BATON ROUGE, LA — A wave of potential trespassers and thieves at the Larson household, Acadian Lane, was repelled last Sunday by the fearless family hound, Mr. Snuffles.
Snuffles, a miniature Pinscher, risked life and limb turning back the nonstop onslaught of would-be burglars while the family was spending the day at the zoo, from 10 in the morning to 7 at night.
The brave dog immediately knew something was amiss when, as the family minivan was driving into the distance, he caught sight of a jogger making his way slowly past the house.
“What was he doing on the property? Why wasn’t he running faster? Why were his pants so baggy, was it for loot?” said Mr. Snuffles. “I smelled a rat, so I did my duty.”
Filling the air with savage barks, Mr. Snuffles frightened the potential robber away.
“He definitely sped up after he found out that someone was home after all – someone with a mean mouth and a bad attitude,” commented Mr. Snuffles.
Only fifteen minutes after the first incident, a woman in suspiciously large sunglasses pushed a stroller along the street toward the Larson house.
“That stroller could easily have fit the TV and the DVD player. I wasn’t about to let such a tragic loss occur, so I did what I had to do.”
Snuffles repeated this action for the next 8 hours, unleashing frenzied yaps on any unsavory characters who happened to approach the house, including a pair of local teenagers, several young children, an elderly woman, and others.
“One of them was walking a dog. My blood boiled to see one of my own race aiding a lawless resolute with the intention of larceny.”
The endless attempts of the local criminal underworld unsettled the courageous dog, but he remained steadfast.
“Was I scared? I’d be lying to say I wasn’t,” said Mr. Snuffles about the incidents occurring throughout the day. “But sometimes you have to look past your fear, and do what’s right. I kept my tail high – well, my tail stump, at least – and my head up. I had to present a brave face so the invaders would know I meant business.”
“That’s really the only time you can be brave,” added Mr. Snuffles. “When you’re scared.”
Mr. Snuffles is being approached by the Baton Rouge PD for a possible appointment as honorary deputy.

Hilarious. I really shouldn’t read Sam’s stuff in class…I may get kicked out for randomly laughing during lecture.
